Mechanical Maintenance

Job Summary
Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work involved inmaintenance of water and wastewater treatment, facilities; and to perform avariety of complex repairs and adjustments to equipment, machinery, structures andgrounds as required. Update logbook on routine and abnormal conditions. Assist municipal and contracted technicians or inspectors on audits and sample collections. Job may require the use of a fork truck on a regular basis. Provides day to day maintenance of pump stations.
Knowledge
Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
Water Water Class II and III certified
Water distribution and wastewater disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings
Understand building codes, legislation, regulations
Policies and procedures of installation and maintenance on industry pumps
5-10 yrs experience
High school diploma /GED or Equivalent

Abilities

Requires frequent interaction to provide basic information and/or occasional interaction requiring detailed procedural explanations or technical responses, where relationships are within the work unit or team.
Physical Demands
May spend long hours outside and in awkward positions which can cause physicaldiscomfort and strain. The position will be lifting and adjusting heavy objects, and will come incontact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment. The employee must maintainsafety procedures at all times to avoid injury. Employees may also come in contact with potentialpoisons and gases that could cause injury or illness.
Sensory Demands
Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with sewer and water, exposure tothe sounds associated with power tools and construction sites, and exposure to dust and otherdebris associated with the use of power tools and construction sites all of which can causesensory strain including headaches.
